Kasbah Africa offers a range of day walks with a choice of short self-guided trails or day walks accompanied by a local Berber guide. These can be arranged upon your arrival at Kasbah Africa.
On our High Atlas walks and treks you will be accompanied by an enthusiastic and experienced local team consisting of muleteers, cook and certified mountain guide. Luggage, camp and cooking equipment are transported between locations by sturdy mules leaving you free to walk and enjoy breathtaking panoramas unburdened.
At night – depending on your chosen route – you may stay in a combination of traditional Berber lodges, mountain refuges or gites, or you may camp out in the Atlas wilderness faraway from civilisation. When camping we include all cooking equipment and utensils, spacious 3-person tents (to sleep just 2), foam mattresses (or camp beds), toilet and washing facilities.
Longer overnight or multi-day treks in the High Atlas Mountains can be arranged through our Atlas trekking base at nearby Dar Tassa.
These can include stays in traditional Berber villages inhabited by friendly local people who live a life that has changed little over hundreds of years.
Set in a truly restful location and with a wide choice of activities available, a stay at Kasbah Africa needs to be savoured not rushed. You’ll spend four nights at Kasbah Africa, perched on the valleyside above the banks of the Azzaden River Valley. From deep-green olive groves to dramatic dark night skies, this is a slice of North African wilderness at its best. Manicured lawns lead out to a big swimming pool and landscaped gardens abundant with fruit trees. Here you can walk up to the fascinating Tassa Ouirgane village to experience authentic Berber life, climb up into the white-capped Atlas Mountains in Toubkal National Park or take part in an Atlas cooking workshop. Or simply do nothing, take off your watch, turn off your tablet and just relax !
The 64 km drive to Kasbah Africa normally takes around 1 hour 15 minutes from Marrakech. You can buy water, snacks, fresh fruit and other supplies en route.
The first part of the journey follows a generally straight road (R203) to the town of Tahanoute before slowly winding up through the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains.
You then pass through the lively Berber town of Asni and continue on the R203 road which leads to the Tizi n’Test Pass and Taroudant.
At the small village of Marigha (before entering Ouirgane) look for a signpost to Kasbah Africa pointing left (after the second mosque).
Here turn left onto a dirt / gravel road (which is accessible to hire cars if driven slowly) and after 3 km you will reach Kasbah Africa.
There is a car park at Kasbah Africa.
