Welcome to Riad Africa. A world of legendary African explorers and fabled places. Indulge in personalised hospitality. Rest in a serene retreat in the heart of ancient Marrakech. Behind its walled façade Riad Africa is a haven of beauty where three ancient medina houses form a charming small hotel with 16 individually styled rooms and suites.
Riad Arabia was built approximately 350 years ago by a Marrakchi merchant who rented the riad to traders from Mali in sub-Saharan Africa. The house was used as a place for retreat and recuperation at the end of arduous journeys by camel across the Great Sand Sea of the Sahara. More recently Riad Arabia was the home of a local Berber family from the Taroudant region. In late 2013 the riad was totally renovated and re-decorated in a traditional Moroccan style and is now adorned with mud cloths from Djenne, a town on the banks of the Niger River in Mali.
